Reviews with images

This machine is an improvement over earlier variants with a larger water tank, bean hopper and coffee puck discard container. Make sure to read the directions for the best cup and forgive the machine if the first two or three are not what you expected. The instructions are a little lacking but it is easy to find YouTube videos for the Eletta. Although a bit more expensive than the Nespresso machines, there is no environmental waste associated to the end cup. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great machine with one limitation Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2019 Style: 1) Single Coffee MakerPattern Name: 9) (High-End Milk Frothing Automatic) Large Capacity Full Spec w/ Froster, 7 Types of Milk MenuVerified Purchase This is a great machine. I bought it about eight months ago and, with one exception, I’ve been very happy with it. It’s very versatile. With the touch of a button or two you can make a large variety of drinks. You can also program it to your own tastes for temperature and milk/coffee ratios. For daily use it’s also very convenient and easy to maintain. The milk carafe cleans itself (although, they do recommend thoroughly washing it about once a week) and it tells you when it needs to be descaled or the water filter needs to be changed. The screen displays for descaling and filter replacement don’t really guide you through the process so I still consult the manual for directions when performing those operations. In contrast, the screen displays during preparation of a drink are useful and informative; letting you know what’s happening, if you need to wait or if something is wrong (e.g., Insert spout). There is one area where I found this machine disappointing. It does not operate well with dark-roasted, oily beans. For many years I had been using Starbucks Italian roast beans in my old DeLonghi coffeemaker (ESAM3500N) and in the one we gave our son a few years ago (ESAM5600SL). Those beans worked well in those two models and they made great tasting coffee. However, those beans in this coffeemaker were a big problem. I had to stand by the machine and push the beans into the grinder in order to get a full-strength cup of coffee. I found this incredibly frustrating, especially given my positive experience with the two earlier machines. Multiple calls to customer support gave me the same recommendation: switch to drier beans. I desperation, I even asked if I could exchange this machine for the more expensive model if that would solve the problem. I was informed that all the current models are meant to be used with non-oily beans. Limiting the customers’ choice of beans for machines in this price range seemed like a bizarre product development decision but it was one I was now stuck with unless I wanted to abandon this machine and sink a lot of money into some other machine. I was really reluctant to do this. Aside from the expense, I really liked the features, the functions and the flexibility of this machine. I really wanted it to work without my having to babysit each cup. So, I began a search for other beans. I tried several Starbucks varieties and even a Tanzanian Peaberry from a local roaster (thinking that the smaller beans would fall into the grinder more easily). None of these solved the problem. After several weeks of experimentation, I found that an old favorite works really well. A few months ago I switched to Lavazza Super Crema beans and I have not had a single problem since. They flow into the grinder easily and they make excellent tasting coffee. Were it not for its problem with oily beans, I would have given this machine five stars. It’s flexibility and features are truly great. Given that you have to live with Delonghi’s restrictions on your choice of beans, I could muster only four stars. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great machine with one limitation This is a great machine. The Amazon listing appeared like I was buying a machine from Delonghi, it even has a link to Delonghi up by the heading. It turns out it came from Fifi Store, which is a prohibited seller and Delonghi would not honor the warranty. I feel I was intentionally deceived by this listing looking like it was from Delonghi. Delonghi should really stand behind something they manufactured but they are not. 5.0 out of 5 stars 'SUPER' Automatic Espresso Machine is right! Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2018 Style: 1) Single Coffee MakerPattern Name: 9) (High-End Milk Frothing Automatic) Large Capacity Full Spec w/ Froster, 7 Types of Milk MenuVerified Purchase This machine is 'Super'! During the last year while saving up money to buy a Super Automatic Espresso Machine, I conducted a lot of research. I'm OCD, so the research on all the different Super Automatic Espresso Machines (SAEMs) was extensive; companies, (DeLonghi, Seaco/Phillips, Gaggia, Jura, KRUPS, etc.), features and benefits, pros and cons, warranties, pricing, etc. And after all that research, I finally narrowed it down to DeLonghi's ECAM 45760 machine. Its regular price was much more than I originally wanted to spend, but my tenacity paid off because I found a demo unit that was essentially new (with only 2 drink cycles) and at a price just little above what I originally wanted to spend, and carries the 2-year warranty. Additionally, I called a few different espresso machine repair shops, talked to their Repair Technicians, and asked which machines (Saeco/Phillips, Gaggia, Jura, KRUPs, etc.) were the most reliable that they repair the least, and I was told the DeLonghi's Super Automatic Espresso machines are the best and most reliable, especially when you follow the recommended periodic maintenance. If you take care of your machine, your machine will take care of you. ;-) This machine has been excellent so far and is very well designed and made. The water reservoir pulls out from the front-right side, so I don't have to pull out the whole machine to add water at the top of the machine like other SAEMs. The LaCrema system makes excellent froth/milk drinks, and the selection of different type of drinks is great. I have always been more of a black drip coffee drinker, so the dedicated 'Long' Coffee function, which brews drip style coffee via a different brewing process that simulates drip style coffee processing, is awesome; I get consistent drip style cups of coffee every time. I occasionally like to drink a 'standard' Cafe Latte, and this machine makes an awesome one of those as well! Want an extra espresso shot in your Café Latte? No problem, once the Café Latte is finished being made, just press the espresso button once, and an extra shot will be added to your Café Latte. NOICE!!! I don't understand why other reviewers have stated that some of the drink menus are difficult to understand. If you take the time to ready the User's Manual like you're supposed to, and/or watch the YouTube videos, it is very easy and intuitive. I did both, so maybe that is why it seemed to be easy and straight forward for me. All in all, if you're looking for a reliable 'Super' Automatic Espresso Machine with great design/features, that is easy to use, has a lot of different coffee drink options, then I highly recommend this machine. 5.0 out of 5 stars 'SUPER' Automatic Espresso Machine is right! Images in this review 3.0 out of 5 stars Not hot lattes and cappuccinos Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2020 Style: 1) Single Coffee MakerPattern Name: 9) (High-End Milk Frothing Automatic) Large Capacity Full Spec w/ Froster, 7 Types of Milk MenuVerified Purchase So my in-laws have the one model below this one and while I always wanted to get a fully automatic espresso machine I wasn’t impressed. Drinks took too long to make and they didn’t come out great. Not hot enough and not enough coffee smell or flavor. So I decided to get this one thinking it will be better. For once this model has temperature control. Boy was I wrong. The temperature control didn’t help. I mostly drink cappuccino and latte which require milk. And it needs to be hot. Well it didn’t give me anywhere near the hot drinks I was looking for. Not even close to the ones you get at coffee shop. Also I have tried tons of beans from leading companies and non have produced a smell and taste I was hoping it would. If this was a $500 machine it would be ok but for a $2000 it’s not great at all. Maybe if you only want espresso this will work but then you won’t need a milk attachment. So until they make a version that automatically makes really hot milk drinks I can’t be a customer. Maybe mine is defective. I’ll try another one just to see if this one is bad but something tells me it’s just the way it is. |
